Very Rare Vintage Bernard Ohnmacht Black Duck Decoy Near Mint Indianna Carver
Here is a very rare decoy by Bernard Ohnmacht of Lafayette Indianna. This decoy is circa 1930. Bernard Ohnmacht only made one rig of 100 decoys for himself, not making any to sell. They consisted of mallards, pintails, black ducks and a few geese. The swivel head is attached to a mechanism extending to the line tie giving some natural looking movement. The open keel appears as though the weight can be adjusted along its length. His decoys are some of the most technically sound and beautiful decoys. For more info on Ohnmacht see Sept/Oct 1986 of Decoy Hunter, spring/summer 191 edition of North American Decoys magazine and p149 of Decoys of The Mississippi Flyway by Alan Haid. All his rig was of cork, coated in a hard surface painted and coated with varnish. Small roughness to speculums otherwise near mint original paint. A very hard to find in this condition decoy and could be the highlight of any midwestern decoy collection. Please examine pics and ask any questions and Ill respond ASAP. Thanks and make an offer.
