Very Rare 1790 Cup & Saucer Slip Marbled Mocha Ware Mochaware Staffordshire Mint

Here we have a stunning thin walled cup and saucer set. Dating to circa 1790, this is likely the finest example of early slip marbling youll ever find. This slip marbling continues around the side of both the cup and saucer. Both pieces also have machined groves below the rims that are infilled with green glaze. There is a curved mark in the clay on the side of the cup that occurred while the clay was still damp and before the cup was glazed and fired.
The cup measures 2 ¼ in height and width, the saucer 4 ¼ in width. These are in original mint condition and survive with no damage or repairs, having been cherished and cared for over 200+ years.
