The visual appearance of this game dish is striking with its detailed molding. This yellow ware form is referred to as cane with the surface not being glazed. This allows for the great molded detail that would not be as prominent if the surface was glazed. The game dish base measures 7 ¼" in width and 6" high to the top of the chick's head. The under plate measures 8 ½ wide. The underside of the basket and plate are both impressed "WS&S". This was a mark used by Wilhelm Schiller & Son who made highly detailed and sought after pottery during the mid-1800s.
